Shine Acrylic with a Torch

Video Credit: Bernzomatic Torchbearer David Waelder

Shining acrylic can help bond two pieces together and give the acrylic an appealing shine. This easy project is something that most people can do themselves and can be done with a Bernzomatic torch and some inexpensive materials.

Directions

  1. Use the 100-grit sandpaper to sand the edges of the acrylic.
  2. Next use the 220-grit sandpaper to sand the edges of the acrylic again.
  3. Peel off the plastic vinyl that is used to protect the surface of the acrylic.
  4. Ignite the TS8000 and apply heat to the sanded edges of the acrylic.
  5. Once the edges have been sanded and heated, apply super glue to the edges and bond the two pieces of the acrylic.

Tips

  • Read our General Safety Precautions before starting your project.
  • Read the instructions that come with your torch before beginning your project.
  • The torch flame should be blue for optimal temperature.
  • Always remove torch from fuel cylinder and store fuel in an upright position after completing your project.
